What requirements must my dog meet before entering the facility?

What are the basic rules or etiquette for people and dogs to follow while they are in the dog park?

RULES PAGE.

Don't the dogs fight?

Only friendly pooches are allowed. Dogs must not have a history of biting or aggression. There are over 625 pooch parks across America that are successful. The dogs aren't territorial because the pooch park is neutral territory; dogs aren't trying to defend their house or yard. When a dog is not constrained by a leash or behind a fence it takes away the unnatural tension caused by those barriers and also allows the dog to choose whether or not to interact with another dog. Dogs on a leash are fearful that they cannot get away if necessary and some feel like they need to protect their master that’s holding the leash. Being tethered with a leash is just an unnatural situation for a dog to be in and some dogs can get very uptight when restrained.  Being off-leash eliminates the dog's worry and fear. The size of the park and the freedom of being "off-leash" make the pooch park experience successful. Give it a try, first time visitors get in FREE for a trial play day and if you’re really worried then we can go in with you, just ask us!  Also, with some dogs we we will recommend that your dog do a day of doggie daycare first to break the ice.  In daycare, it’s a much more controlled setting with our professional staff rather than his first time being introduced to dogs in the dog park.

What about diseases or fleas?

Only pooches that have had all of their vaccinations are permitted in the pooch park. All dogs must prove that they are up-to-date on all required shots.  This is the benefit of going to a private dog park versus a public one.  We strictly protect everyone inside by screening everyone before they go in.  We do not have any problems with fleas. Dog owners who are responsible enough to pay to bring their dogs to Poochie’s park are the same dog owners who use flea & tick prevention products. The dog park rules and regulations prohibit brining sick dogs or dogs in heat into the pooch park.

What about poop?

Pooper Scoop stations are posted periodically throughout the park and all dog owners are responsible for scooping their dog's poop. This is part of the rules & regulations
